Open. What a gift. Life has a way of teaching us so many lessons. I write this blog because it is one of the places to voice my lessons, observations and stories. The past 4 months have been stressful, scary and so perfect that I have to write about Appreciation today.
Several things have happened to inspire this topic. You may have noticed that it has been several months since my last entry. Well that is due to a few changes in my life that have been both nerve-wracking and quite wonderful….quite perfect to put it more aptly.
On the work front, I have acquired yet another department and quite a large responsibility. With it comes some hefty learning for me, new staff and all the challenges that brings with it, and the assimilation with my current team. It has been challenging and scary but manageable when I break it up into smaller goals and complete “my check-off” lists. It has been both stressful and fulfilling as I navigate the new position, staff, and identify operations and improvements needed.
It makes me appreciate my team, who are always on top of their work and who have “can do” attitudes. It makes me appreciate my fellow managers who are very supportive and who teach me new things every day. It makes me appreciate the relationships I have with what I like to call the “Epic core,” a group of hardworking strategists and technical builders. Sometimes if it weren’t for them, I think I would lose my mind! It makes me appreciate my boss for believing in me and giving me so many opportunities to grow and contribute. Sometimes with your work situation, it helps to stop and count your gratitude’s. It helps the days go by smoother and sometimes allows you to regroup from a negative attitude, giving a perspective on how it really could be much worse. Especially since so many struggle with not even having a job these days. Count your blessings people. If you have a job, find the thankfulness. If you don’t and are searching, be thankful for the opportunities that are coming your way and ask for the openness and grace to recognize it when it appears.
AND, now for the “quite perfect” part of this entry. As I start this part of the entry, I’m sitting in the backyard with the sun rising, the grapevines overhead and the morning stillness, and a crow flies overhead. My Native American animal cards come to mind and I look up Crow.Crow is an omen of change. The Ancient Chiefs tell us that Crow sees simultaneously the three fates – past, present, and future. If Crow medicine appears, learn to allow your personal integrity to be your guide. Your personal will can then emerge so that you will stand in your truth. The prime path of true Crow people says to be mindful of your opinions and actions. Be willing to walk your talk, speak your truth, know your life’s mission, and balance past, present, and future in the now. Shape shift that old reality and become your future self. Allow the bending of physical laws to aid in creating the shape shifted world of peace and love.
All of this is so true, especially for me now. About 4 months ago, practicing the concepts I stated in my “Open” entry, I met a very special man. It had been a long time coming and I had always tried to believe that one day I would find the love of my life. Searching for the special connection always eluded me. Sure there were connections, but this was so different. A powerful, deep connection that comes with knowing and feeling real love and great joy that you are occupying the same world together. Time and space disappear and you feel connected……always.
It has been my greatest joy, and I so appreciate him and how our life together is unfolding. It has taken many years to find, and yes, I was just about to give up hope. But shifting to “Open” made a difference in my daily life. Accepting whatever the situation was in every given circumstance, knowing who I was and honoring and living that regardless of what others thought or said allowed me to receive. Living your life authentically is magic, and practicing real appreciation sometimes forces acceptance and allows “Open” to happen.
* Always live your truth.
* Live life to the fullest, with integrity, thankfulness and appreciation for where you are now.
* Be open to the opportunities Mother-Father-God will bring you. She only brings what we can handle.
The Native American “Crow” medicine description burns in my mind as I leave you to find your authentic self and open to life’s loves and experiences.
